Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Australia 51 years ago, practical cooperation in various fields has achieved fruitful results, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both countries, which is worth cherishing by both sides. In the past few years, there have been some twists and turns in China Australia relations, and the lessons are worth learning. The two countries have no historical grievances or fundamental conflicts of interest, and can fully become partners of mutual trust and achievement. The key to developing China Australia relations lies in adhering to mutual respect, seeking common ground while reserving differences, and achieving mutual benefit and win-win results. The maturity and stability of China Australia relations should first be reflected in a correct understanding of each other's differences and differences. It is normal for China and Australia to have differences in history, culture, social systems, and development levels, but differences should not be allowed to define the relationship between the two countries.
Enhancing mutual understanding and trust through peaceful coexistence and achieving common development through mutually beneficial cooperation is the only way for China Australia relations to achieve stability and progress. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Australia, the bilateral trade volume has jumped from less than $100 million to $220.9 billion in 2022. China has long maintained Australia's largest trading partner, export market, and source of imports. China pursues a win-win opening strategy, promotes the construction of a new development pattern, and comprehensively promotes the building of a strong country and the rejuvenation of the nation with Chinese path to modernization. This will bring unprecedented opportunities to countries around the world, including Australia. Prime Minister Albanese led a delegation to attend the opening ceremony of the 6th China International Import Expo in Shanghai, with about 200 Australian companies participating, indicating that all sectors of Australia value and value China's opportunities. China and Australia fully tap into the potential of the China Australia Free Trade Agreement, expand cooperation in emerging fields such as climate change and green economy, maintain the global and regional free trade system, provide a good business environment for the investment and operation of enterprises in the two countries, help both sides achieve complementary advantages, and establish a closer mutually beneficial cooperation relationship.

To grasp the correct development direction of China Australia relations, it is necessary to look at the profound changes in the global trend. In today's world, people of all countries are a community with a shared future.   From the perspective of fate and co existence, the world is broad and vast, with opportunities and cooperation everywhere. Jointly building China Australia relations that treat each other equally, seek common ground while reserving differences, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation, and promoting the continuous development of China Australia comprehensive strategic partnership, is in line with the common interests of the two countries and their people, the common expectations of regional countries, and is also conducive to the international community better responding to various risks and challenges brought about by the century long changes in the world. The "high walls of small courtyards", "decoupling and chain breaking", or "de risk" are essentially protectionism, contrary to market laws, technological development laws, and the trend of human social development.

Joining hands to achieve peace, stability, and prosperity in the Asia Pacific region is a common responsibility of China and Australia. China is willing to work with regional partners including Australia to adhere to true multilateralism and open regionalism, promote the Asia Pacific to become a highland for cooperation and development, and create a more beneficial community with a shared future for the Asia Pacific. China does not engage in exclusive small circles, group politics, or camp confrontation in the Asia Pacific region. Small circles cannot solve the major challenges facing the world, and small groups cannot adapt to the great changes in the world today. We must be highly vigilant and firmly oppose attempts to disrupt the Asia Pacific region. China is willing to engage in more tripartite and multi-party cooperation with Australia, support South Pacific countries in enhancing their development resilience, addressing challenges such as climate change, and maintaining peace and stability in the Asia Pacific region through openness and inclusiveness.
With the joint efforts of both sides, China and Australia have resumed exchanges in various fields and embarked on the right path to improve development relations. Both sides should focus more on a positive agenda, view each other in a rational, friendly, and inclusive manner, adhere to positive, pragmatic, and objective policies, act towards each other, handle differences appropriately, expand cooperation, and form a continuously upward virtuous cycle to ensure the sustained, healthy, and stable development of China Australia relations.
