release time:2023/11/9

People's Daily Online, Bangkok, November 8 (Reporter Sun Guangyong) In recent years, China Thailand economic and trade relations have achieved all-round and leapfrog development. China has been Thailand's largest trading partner for 10 consecutive years. More and more Chinese enterprises have taken advantage of the "the Belt and Road" to take root in Thailand, ushering in a new period of opportunity for China Thailand economic and trade cooperation. The development of Chinese enterprises in Thailand has also brought more opportunities to the local area.
On November 6th, a 48 year old Thai engineer named Su Wei completed the design task of the natural gas pipeline and metering station general contracting project for Thailand's Xingang Power Plant in Bangkok. He said that in the past, participating in high-end energy design consulting projects was very challenging. Now, he has worked on three projects in Southeast Asia and served as the project manager for one of them, greatly improving his technical and project management abilities.
At the end of 2018, China National Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co., Ltd. established the Southeast Asian Design Consulting Center in Bangkok, Thailand, mainly engaged in design consulting business in the energy engineering field, belonging to the high-end technology field of the industry. For the past five years, the center has adhered to a localized development model, providing nearly 100 positions for Thai engineers, and through global collaborative design, allowing them to participate more in energy projects undertaken by pipeline design institutes in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa and other regions, cultivating international technical and management talents for Thailand.
In recent years, the Southeast Asian Design Consulting Center has undertaken a number of engineering design projects in Thailand, including the Northeast Product Oil Pipeline and the Xingang Project. The number of employees in Thailand has increased from a few dozen to over a hundred. In order to accelerate business development, the center actively leverages its local advantages and introduces high-level foreign outstanding management talents to important positions such as project director, department manager, and project manager.

During the operation process, Chinese enterprises adhere to the concept of "people-oriented" and have set up more than 20 sets of different types of training courses for Thai employees. Regular job technical skills training is carried out every month to improve skill levels. At the same time, cultural integration is advocated, so that Chinese and Thai employees truly feel a humanistic atmosphere of mutual respect, trust, and tolerance, becoming the "perfect partner" in their work.

Carmon Wan, a senior engineer in the process industry who has worked in a Chinese enterprise for nearly 5 years, told reporters: "In recent years, I have been very lucky to be able to participate in the Northeast Thailand Oil Product Project, a China supported" the Belt and Road "economic cooperation and exchange project. As a Thai, I am more proud, because the completion of oil product, natural gas and other projects will greatly improve Thailand's energy infrastructure, which is of great significance and benefits the country and people. I have made contributions to the country."
Since its establishment, the Southeast Asian Design and Consulting Center has attracted local aspiring individuals, providing Thai engineers with a broad, rich, and competitive international development platform. It is precisely this challenging and constantly improving platform that many Thai engineers express their willingness to work steadfastly and diligently at the center, and to work together with Chinese enterprises through ups and downs.
During his visit to China in October, Thai Prime Minister Seta expressed the hope that both sides would deepen practical cooperation in various fields, jointly build the Thailand China Railway, and promote the development concept of China Laos Thailand connectivity. Thailand welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest in Thailand. Suewei told reporters that China Thailand cooperation will achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, and expects more Chinese enterprises to develop in Thailand, and promote the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" to achieve greater development.
