Joint Communique between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Nauru on the Restoration of Diplomatic Relations

The People's Republic of China and the Republic of Nauru, in accordance with the interests and wishes of the two peoples, hereby decide to resume diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level from today onwards.
The two governments agree to develop friendly relations between the two countries based on the principles of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, non aggression, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality, mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence.
The government of the Republic of Nauru recognizes that there is only one China in the world, and the government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing the whole of China. Taiwan is an inseparable part of China's territory. The government of the Republic of Nauru immediately severed diplomatic relations with Taiwan and promised not to have any official relations or exchanges with Taiwan. The government of the People's Republic of China appreciates the aforementioned position of the government of the Republic of Nauru.
The governments of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Nauru have agreed to exchange ambassadors as soon as possible in accordance with the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and international practice, and to provide all necessary assistance to each other in establishing embassies and performing their duties in their respective capitals on a reciprocal basis.
The representatives of both parties, authorized by their respective governments, signed two copies of the Chinese and English versions of the communique in Beijing on January 24, 2024, both texts being equally authentic.
