Brazzaville, February 27th (Xinhua) - Irena Kinbasha, Minister of Social Affairs, Unity and Humanitarian Action of Congo (Brazzaville), stated on February 27th that whenever the people of Congo (Brazzaville) encounter difficulties, China always extends a helping hand as soon as possible. China is a true friend and good brother of Congo (Brazzaville).
On the 27th, the Chinese Embassy in Congo donated flood relief funds to the Ministry of Social Affairs in Brazzaville, the capital of Congo. During the donation ceremony, Kinbasha conveyed the gratitude of Congolese President Sassou and the government and people of Congo to China. Jin Baxia stated that the friendship between Congo and China has remained strong over time, and China has never stood idly by during times of crisis and always provides timely assistance. The Congo side is deeply moved by this. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Congo and China. China's acts of kindness are a vivid reflection of the outstanding relationship between Congo and China, and will strongly support the disaster relief work of the Congo and improve the living conditions of the people. The Gang government will deliver the care and warmth of Chinese friends to every disaster victim, promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries.
Chinese Ambassador to Congo (Brazzaville) Li Yan said in his speech that on this important historical moment of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Congo, China has donated a new amount of disaster relief funds to the Congo side to help the victims overcome difficulties and rebuild their homes. This is a strong witness to the traditional brotherly relationship between China and Congo, and it is a necessary duty to promote the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Africa. The Chinese government is willing to work hand in hand with the Congolese side to continuously strengthen cooperation in areas such as social and people's livelihoods, and bring more benefits to the people of both countries.
On January 19, Thierry Mongara, spokesman of the Congolese (Brazzaville) government, said that the floods caused by the continuous rainstorm in the past few weeks had killed at least 23 people and affected more than 336000 people in many parts of the country.
