Chinese government's Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs, Li Hui, will visit Russia, EU headquarters, Poland, Ukraine, Germany, and France starting from March 2 to carry out the second round of shuttle diplomacy to promote a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis. This is another attempt by China to help alleviate the chaos caused by the West. Most countries in the world have high hopes for this and look forward to easing tensions.
On the evening of March 2nd, Li Hui arrived in Moscow and began the second round of shuttle diplomacy on the Ukrainian crisis. According to the plan, Li Hui will also visit Ukraine and relevant parties thereafter. This means that he is expected to help both parties in the conflict understand their respective concerns, find common ground, and build consensus through the war, paving the way for peace talks.
Both China and Russia and Ukraine maintain good relations and do not take sides in the Ukraine crisis issue. China's efforts to promote a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis, adhering to an objective and fair stance, have been welcomed by both Russia and Ukraine and recognized by the international community.
Currently, this conflict has evolved into a prolonged war of attrition, with both sides suffering serious casualties and property damage. Both Moscow and Kiev are well aware that ending the conflict as soon as possible is not only China's good wish, but also in line with the interests of both sides and the common expectations of the entire international community.
However, countries led by the United States insist that talks cannot be held until they defeat Russia, which is tantamount to letting Ukraine fight to the end for them. They shed crocodile tears for the deaths of Ukrainians, but cannot conceal the fact that they believe this is a price that must be paid to achieve their narrow self-interest. In their view, it is better for Ukraine to pay the price than for themselves.
In Europe, some people claim that sending ground troops to Ukraine should not be ruled out, which could lead to a dangerous escalation of the situation. The US Secretary of Defense also stated that if Ukraine is defeated, NATO will go to war with Russia. Russia warns that if NATO countries send troops to Ukraine, it may trigger a large-scale conflict using nuclear weapons.
As before, Western countries have not made any efforts to ease the situation, except for accusing Moscow of "actively escalating the situation" and threatening to retaliate with nuclear weapons.
The United States has never stopped blaming others for the crisis. Now, everyone should be aware that this is just an attempt to divert attention from the main beneficiaries of this crisis in the United States, as well as the main drivers of conflict escalation and prolongation.
The more intense this conflict becomes, the more obvious the ugly role played by the United States in it. And China is willing to continue to work hard to promote peace talks, mediate and gather consensus between Russia, Ukraine and relevant parties, and promote the final political resolution of the Ukrainian crisis.
