Hospitals and diagnostic centers built with China's assistance to Nepal have been put into use one after another, making new contributions to promoting the development of local healthcare industry; Batch after batch of Chinese medical team members continue to work hard, contributing to the protection of the health of Nepalese people with benevolence and skill; Both sides have established the China Nepal Traditional Medicine Cooperation Committee to support the China Nepal Traditional Chinese Medicine Center in providing free consultations, training, and medical services in Nepal. In recent years, China and Nepal have continuously strengthened cooperation in the field of healthcare, especially traditional medicine. Through collaborative projects, China has helped Nepal continuously improve its medical and health conditions, writing a touching chapter in building a community of human health and wellness.

"Make positive contributions to the development of Nepal's health industry"

In March of this year, the restoration and renovation project of the hospital in Sindhupachok County, Nepal, aided by China, was officially completed. This project is one of the 25 projects that China has assisted in post disaster reconstruction in Nepal, providing more comprehensive medical services to approximately 60000 local residents.

Sindhupachok County is located in the mountainous areas of central northern Nepal. The terrain here is steep and the transportation is inconvenient. Although it is only 80 kilometers away from the capital Kathmandu, it takes 3 hours to drive.

After the renovation was completed, Xindu Parchok County Hospital added new departments such as imaging, laboratory, and surgery, as well as facilities such as a one-stop crisis management center, tuberculosis treatment area, fire emergency management center, and teaching and training center.

Wang Dianlei, the leader of the construction technology team of Hebei Construction Group, the project contractor, introduced that during the hospital renovation process, considering the possibility of discomfort caused by mechanical equipment noise and light sources, the construction technology team optimized the overall construction layout, set up mechanical protective sheds to reduce noise and light source diffusion, installed enclosed enclosures to separate the construction area from the hospital consultation area, and ensured that patients were not disturbed by construction.

Nowadays, the newly renovated Xindu Parchok County Hospital has attracted many outstanding young medical talents from Nepal to work, effectively alleviating the problem of local doctor shortage. "After inspection and evaluation by the Health Bureau of Bagmati Province, the hospital will be upgraded to a district level public hospital equipped with 50 beds and will take on the important task of cultivating grassroots medical and health technical talents in the county." The hospital's director, Gan Gen, proudly said.

In February of this year, the Ministry of Health and Population of Nepal sent a thank-you letter to Hebei Construction Group, praising "the high-quality, safe, and environmentally friendly construction of the project, making positive contributions to the development of Nepal's health industry, and further deepening Nepal China friendship.".

"We cooperate with each other and make progress together"

Qidawang City is located at the southern foothills of the Himalayas and was built with Chinese aid P. Koirala Cancer Hospital is located here, which is currently the largest and most technologically advanced diagnostic and treatment center in Nepal. For over 20 years, batches of Chinese medical team members have been working hard here, overcoming various difficulties and helping the local people with superb medical skills.

The reporter departed by car from Kathmandu in the morning and arrived at this hospital near the end of the outpatient service in the afternoon. Although Niu Xiuran, a member of the Chinese medical team who accompanied the interview, was not wearing a white coat, she was still recognized by a patient's family member.

"Are you a medical worker from China?" a middle-aged local woman asked, holding her hand.

"Yes, I come from China," she replied.

Niu Xiuran is a member of the 15th batch of Chinese medical teams assisting Nepal. She shoulders the task of promoting the implementation of the hospital's bone marrow transplant medical project in this foreign aid.

The bone marrow transplant ward is a special care unit set up by hospitals for bone marrow transplant patients, and nursing staff need to undergo strict training to be competent.

"In the first training class, I explained the relevant knowledge of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation to local medical staff, including transplantation concepts, processes, nursing, disinfection, etc., and also showed the structure and facilities of the transplantation ward with pictures," said Niu Xiuran.

The captain of the medical team, Zhao Guimin, is a blood disease expert and full of expectations for the implementation of bone marrow transplantation medical projects. Zhao Guimin said, "The technical level of local medical staff is not low, but they lack clinical experience. We hope to cooperate and make progress together in the process of promoting project implementation."

Medical team member Yang Jiankai told reporters, "Whenever a long surgery is completed, the patient recovers, and the patient's family members give a thumbs up and praise 'Chinese doctors are amazing', I think all the efforts and persistence are worth it."

"Chinese medical team members work in most departments of our hospital and provide strong support. In the past few years, Chinese medical team members have worked closely with Nepalese medical personnel to carry out a series of medical assistance projects, achieving fruitful results." B P. Bi Jieya, the director of Koirala Cancer Hospital, told reporters that nearly 70% of the hospital's employees have studied or received training in China, and he himself is one of them. "The advanced medical technology and management knowledge I have learned in China have played an important role in my personal career development and hospital construction."

"Jointly promoting the development of traditional medicine"

In the southwest suburbs of Kathmandu, the Traditional Medicine Research and Training Center, which was built with Chinese assistance, covers an area of nearly 20000 square meters and includes four functional areas: research, office, outpatient, and ward. It is a modern medical institution that integrates traditional medicine learning, research, and training.

At the traditional Chinese medicine therapy clinic, Nepalese doctor Bihuake is treating a patient with rheumatoid arthritis. "Affected by the environment and climate, a large number of Nepalese people suffer from arthralgia and neuralgia. We combine traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion and massage with traditional Nepalese medicine to innovate treatment methods, and patients generally recover in about 10 days," Bi Huake told reporters.

Bi Huake graduated from the Ayurvedic Traditional Medicine undergraduate program at Tribuwen University in Nepal and also holds a Master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. During his four years of studying in China, he had many beautiful memories. "My mentor always patiently answers my questions and helps me improve my diagnostic and therapeutic abilities." Now, Bi Huake has become a medical consultant at the Traditional Medicine Research and Training Center. "If there are any difficult or complicated conditions during the treatment process, I will also contact my Chinese mentor online.".

With the promotion of traditional Chinese medicine in Nepal, more and more Nepalese students are going to China to study traditional Chinese medicine. Many of them choose to work at traditional medicine research and training centers after returning to Nepal, committed to promoting cooperation in the field of traditional medicine between the two countries.

"Traditional Chinese medicine has unique advantages in theoretical systems, diagnostic and therapeutic methods, and drug applications. Nepal has abundant natural drug resources. Through exchanges and cooperation, the two countries can learn from each other's strengths and complement each other, and jointly promote the development of traditional medicine," said Ram, the director of the center, to reporters.

"Medical and health cooperation is an important component of the friendly relationship between China and Nepal," said Chen Song, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal. "The relevant cooperation projects will promote exchanges and cooperation in the medical field between China and Nepal, and further deepen friendship and understanding between the two peoples."
