Expanding the "win-win chain" between China and Europe to promote economic and trade cooperation to a new level

On June 19th, local time, as the visit to Zurich, Switzerland ended, a trade delegation led by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade arrived in Paris, France. Focusing on important tasks and seizing every moment, from Switzerland to France, the delegation visited multiple international organizations, international business associations, and multinational corporations with close relations with China.  

When the delegation arrived in Zurich, the city at the northern foothills of the Alps appeared peaceful and beautiful. On June 19th local time, the China Switzerland Business Dialogue and the 2nd China International Supply Chain Promotion Expo (hereinafter referred to as the "2nd Chain Expo") held in Zurich, Switzerland, attracted more than 100 representatives from the business communities of China and Switzerland.

In 1968, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade welcomed Switzerland's first exhibition in China, showcasing brands such as Plum Blossom, Longines, and Omega. China and Switzerland complement each other's advantages and have enormous potential in the field of trade. 'Made in Switzerland' is Switzerland's' business card ', and high-quality products such as jewelry, watches, and medical instruments are widely favored by Chinese consumers. More and more mechanical and chemical products from China are entering the Swiss market, providing Swiss consumers with more choices. The business community is a driving force for promoting pragmatic cooperation between China and Switzerland, as well as a builder and beneficiary of the development of bilateral relations. The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade is willing to work with all parties to be a transmitter of friendship between China and Switzerland, a promoter of mutually beneficial cooperation, and a stable and smooth supply chain. "Defenders, continuing to write a new chapter in cooperation between the business communities of the two countries." The words made by Ren Hongbin, the President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, at the promotion meeting resonated with senior attendees.

Recalling the past, looking at the present, and seeking the future, the potential for economic and trade cooperation between China and Switzerland is enormous, and mutual trust and mutual efforts are even more needed.

"In the face of the increasingly complex international economic and trade situation, hosting the Chain Expo is the right thing to do at the 'right time' and has played a positive role in promoting the healthy development of global trade." Wei Xiting, Chairman of the Swiss China Economic Association, said at the promotion meeting that the Chinese economy has been improving for a long time and the Chinese market is vast. The Swiss China Economic Association will encourage Swiss enterprises to actively participate in the second Chain Expo.

Stefan Barney, Director of Global Network and Institutional Relations at the Swiss Trade and Investment Agency, stated that this event has provided a platform for communication and dialogue between Swiss and Chinese enterprises. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the implementation of the Swiss China Free Trade Agreement, and fruitful results have been achieved in economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. The Swiss Global Enterprise Promotion Agency will promote more Swiss enterprises and institutions to participate in the second Chain Expo, promoting economic and trade cooperation between Switzerland, China, and even the world.

During the delegation's visit to Switzerland, they successively visited Roche Group, Novartis, the Swiss China Economic Association, and the Swiss Trade and Investment Agency, and conducted in-depth discussions on the cooperation between China and Switzerland in the fields of medicine, chemicals, economy and trade.

From Zurich to Paris, the delegation arrived in this romantic city with gains and expectations, and successively visited the French Chinese Committee, the International Chamber of Commerce, the International Exhibition Bureau, and others.

During the meeting with relevant leaders of these international organizations and international business associations, the delegation members had in-depth exchanges on topics such as strengthening Sino French economic and trade cooperation and promoting global supply chain stability. Ren Hongbin said that China has always viewed China EU relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, taking Europe as an important direction of major country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics and an important partner in achieving Chinese path to modernization. He emphasized that the essence of China Europe cooperation is complementary advantages, mutual benefit and win-win, and both sides have broad common interests and huge cooperation space in green and digital transformation.

"The Chinese market is further opening up, and the business environment is further improving, which is evident to the world. We believe that China is embracing the world and bringing more opportunities to the world, and more French companies, including L'Oreal, are also looking forward to fully seizing these opportunities." An Gong, co-chairman of the French China Committee and Chairman of L'Oreal Group, said that L'Oreal has benefited from China's reform and opening up, and has developed with China's accelerated pace of opening up. Now, China is one of L'Oreal's most strategically significant growth engines. French companies, including L'Oreal, will expand their investment in China, explore more Chinese partner companies, and achieve more cooperation in the supply chain field.

"In recent years, as an important engine of global economic development, China's economic and trade relations have continuously expanded in breadth and depth, injecting strong impetus into the growth of the world economy. The International Chamber of Commerce has been committed to promoting global trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, and we attach great importance to and support economic and trade cooperation between China and countries around the world." Dan Dun, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce, stated in a meeting with the delegation that China actively promotes the construction of a new open economic system, strengthens relations with major trading partners, deepens multilateral and regional economic and trade cooperation, and creates more opportunities for global trade and investment cooperation. The Chain Expo organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade has adapted to the new situation and characteristics of the current development of international economic and trade relations. The International Chamber of Commerce will continue to play a bridge and link role in global economic and trade cooperation, actively organize enterprises to participate in exhibitions, and promote exchanges and cooperation among enterprises from various countries.

The delegation held the second Chain Expo promotion event in Paris on June 21st local time. Nearly 300 representatives from Chinese and French enterprises attended. Former French Prime Minister and Chairman of the French Foundation for Outlook and Innovation, Lafarlane, stated at a press conference that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 60 years ago, France and China have had close exchanges and cooperation, and many French companies have invested in and established factories in China, setting many examples of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

The holding of the Chain Expo is precisely to build an international platform to promote communication, deepen cooperation, and seek common development among all parties." Ren Hongbin said in his speech at the promotion conference.

Wei Jialing, General Manager of the China French Chamber of Commerce, stated at the promotion meeting that under the current international situation, maintaining stable and open global industrial and supply chains, and promoting international economic and trade exchanges and cooperation are more important than ever before. The Chinese French Chamber of Commerce will promote more French enterprises and institutions to participate in the Chain Expo and promote cooperation and innovation between the two countries.

Representatives of Chinese and French enterprises shared cases of industrial and supply chain cooperation during the event, and held discussions and exchanges around two themes: "Strengthening cooperation between Chinese and French economic and trade institutions, weaving a dense service enterprise network" and "Enhancing industrial cooperation between China and France, promoting stable and smooth supply chains".

This economic and trade delegation's visit not only enhances economic and trade ties between China, Switzerland, and France, but also provides new opportunities for Chinese enterprises to expand international markets and strengthen international cooperation.
