Kuala Lumpur, June 30 (China News Agency) - Question: China's Initiative to Promote Deepening Exchange and Cooperation between Malaysia and China

China News Agency reporter Chen Yue

"In the past one or two years, I have visited China multiple times for exchanges and visits, and each time I have felt the enthusiasm of the Chinese academic community to promote cultural exchange and cooperation between Malaysia and China," said Huang Zijian, Dean of the Faculty of Literature and Social Sciences at the University of Malaya.

Xiamen University is one of the earliest universities in China to establish a Malaysian research institute. In September last year, the School of International Relations/Nanyang Research Institute of Xiamen University and the Faculty of Literature and Social Sciences of the University of Malaya signed a cooperation agreement and established a workstation at the University of Malaya. Huang Zijian said that this is just one example, and the enthusiasm of Chinese universities to promote national and regional research and promote the establishment of multilateral and bilateral research cooperation platforms is impressive.

In Huang Zijian's view, this reflects the enthusiasm of the Chinese academic community to carry out cultural exchange and cooperation, and promote cultural exchange and mutual learning, which is also the essence of the Global Civilization Initiative.

Huang Zijian said that Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar has also been refuting the theory of "clash of civilizations" and advocating for promoting dialogue among different countries on civilizations. He believes that in this regard, the Malaysian government's governing philosophy shares similarities with the Global Civilization Initiative, laying a solid foundation for exchanges and cooperation between Malaysia and China under the Global Civilization Initiative.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China. Huang Zijian looks forward to further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the fields of humanities and education under the Global Civilization Initiative. He said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 50 years ago, Malaysia and China have achieved great success in cooperation in economic and trade fields, and cultural exchanges and cooperation have also yielded fruitful results. In terms of higher education alone, currently there are over 10000 students studying in China in Malaysia, and over 40000 Chinese students studying in Malaysia. In addition, Huang Zijian was also impressed by the cooperation between Malaysia and China in Chinese education. He said that with the joint efforts of Malaysia and China, more and more people of other ethnic groups in Malaysia have come into contact with and mastered Chinese, which is of great help to the mutual understanding between the people of Malaysia and China.

"Although cultural exchange may not see direct economic benefits, it can lay a long-term and resilient foundation for Malaysia China relations," said Huang Zijian.

Huang Zijian pointed out that from the history of exchanges between Malaysia and China, China has always pursued regional peace and stability, without engaging in plundering and aggression. "Malaysia has always affirmed China's peaceful role in the history of exchanges between Malaysia and China." At the same time, Huang Zijian also believes that Malaysia has actively promoted poverty reduction and is committed to improving people's lives in recent years. China's global development initiative can promote communication, exchange, and cooperation between Malaysia and China in this field.

Malaysia will assume the rotating presidency of ASEAN next year. Huang Zijian looks forward to the frequent high-level visits between Malaysia and China on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. This not only promotes the stability and further deepening of bilateral relations, but also creates conditions for further deepening cooperation between ASEAN and China under the three major global initiatives. "China can make greater contributions to the peace, stability, and development of ASEAN."
