On August 6-8, 2024, the biennial Brazil International Animal Protein Exhibition SIAVS was held in S ã o Paulo, Brazil. SIAVS is an exhibition focused on the animal protein industry, particularly in the fields of poultry, pigs, cattle, and fisheries. After years of training and accumulation, SIAVS has now attracted the participation and attention of many overseas individuals.

1、 SIAVS collaborates for the first time with the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association and the Brazilian Fish Farming Association

The predecessor of SIAVS, the Brazil International Animal Protein Exhibition, was the Brazil International Poultry and Pork Exhibition. This exhibition lasts for 3 days and is hosted by the Brazilian Association of Animal Proteins (ABPA). It is the largest exhibition in the Brazilian animal protein industry. This year, the exhibition collaborated for the first time with the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association and the Brazilian Fish Farming Association to further integrate relevant practitioners in the animal protein production chain, and the scale of meat import and export was further increased.

2、 This exhibition not only includes poultry and pig industry enterprises from Brazil's animal protein industry, but also Brazilian beef and other meat imports and exports, as well as Brazilian fishing companies. The expo also opened over a hundred specialized forums, covering topics such as industry sustainability, production, processing, technology, exports, and logistics.

2、 Brazil looks forward to bringing more high-quality meat to Chinese dining tables

At the SIAVS International Animal Protein Exhibition in Brazil, industry insiders expressed their expectation to strengthen meat import and export cooperation between China and Pakistan, and bring more high-quality meat to the Chinese people's dining tables. Brazilian Agriculture Minister Carlos Favaro stated at the opening ceremony that Brazil's relationship with China has reached a new level and faces more development opportunities. This year, 38 new meat companies in Brazil have been approved to export products to China, and the number of Brazilian meat companies with export qualifications to China has increased from 106 to 144. More businesses mean more employment and more opportunities, "said Favaro. China is the largest export destination for Brazilian beef, chicken, pork and other meat imports and exports, "said Ricardo Santin, President of the Brazilian Animal Protein Association. The association attaches great importance to the Chinese market and looks forward to continuing to strengthen cooperation with China to better meet the growing demand of the Chinese market.

3、 China and Pakistan have great potential for cooperation in the field of sustainable development

Yu Lu, Vice President of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Food, Soil and Livestock, who attended the SIAVS exhibition theme forum, said, "The traceability and price cost of Brazilian beef products make them very competitive in the Chinese market." In addition to meat, Brazil mainly exports agricultural products such as soybeans and cotton flowers to China, making it the largest source of agricultural imports for China. Yu Lu believes that this trade relationship not only meets the needs of Chinese consumers, but also releases Brazilian agricultural capacity and drives economic growth, which is a win-win situation. Yu Lu stated that agriculture, especially animal husbandry, is the main source of carbon emissions. As major agricultural producers and consumers, China and Brazil have great prospects for cooperation in the field of sustainable development, and can strengthen experience exchange in various aspects such as feed and animal husbandry. Fernando Sampaio, Director of Sustainable Development at the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association, stated that China and Brazil can work together to reduce emissions while maintaining smooth trade, and both sides have great potential for cooperation in green trade meat import and export.

4、 The recovery of exports in Rio Grande do Sul is highly concerned

Recently, the import and export of meat in Brazil, which has been greatly affected by the COVID-19 outbreak in Rio Grande do Sul, have also received good news through continuous efforts from various parties.

On August 6, 2024, the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) issued Decree No. 706, announcing the end of the state of emergency for meat imports and exports in Rio Grande do Sul due to the detection of Newcastle disease virus in commercial poultry.

On August 7, 2024, the General Administration of Customs and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs jointly issued a notice on preventing the spread of Newcastle disease from Rio Grande do Sul to China. The announcement clarifies the scope of lifting restrictions on the production and shipment of Brazilian chicken products during the epidemic: chicken products produced and stored outside the state of Rio Grande do Sul since the outbreak of the Antagorda (RS) new city epidemic on July 18 are allowed to be exported to China.

In November this year, the G20 Leaders' Summit will also be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, we look forward to the future cooperation in the field of meat and animal protein between China and Pakistan!
