Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, boasts calm waters in Guanabara Bay and the excellent natural conditions of Rio de Janeiro Port. Recently, the international container terminal service company of Rio Port welcomed over 50 media representatives to participate in the 2024 China Latin America Media Cooperation Forum.

On the dock, cranes keep lifting containers one by one, and trucks shuttle back and forth from time to time. The port is busy yet orderly. On the shore, there is a COSCO Shipping cargo ship that has just loaded cargo and is flying the flags of China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The shore bridge with the Chinese characters "Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry" printed on it is neatly arranged.

According to Qian Weiyong, General Manager of Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry's Latin America region, since exporting the first shore crane equipment to Santos Port in Brazil in 1996, Zhenhua Heavy Industry has implemented 94 shore cranes, more than 200 tire cranes, and 18 large bulk cargo loading and unloading equipment at major ports in Brazil... "With these intelligent and efficient shore crane equipment, the terminal business has achieved steady growth," Qian Weiyong said.

On site, some media representatives filmed interview videos with the shore bridge as the background, while others took out recording pens to ask staff questions. Many media representatives shared their observations and feelings with our reporter.

Brazil imports a large amount of consumer goods from China and exports a large amount of oil, natural gas, and other products to China. The trade links are close and the complementary advantages are obvious. Therefore, infrastructure such as ports and terminals are particularly important, "said Ranieri Rodrigues Viroso, a journalist from Brazil's Central North Media Group." The equipment and technology provided by Chinese companies are practical and efficient, and we have broad cooperation space with China in the fields of automation and intelligence.

Automated facilities are crucial for port cargo transportation and foreign trade, and the port facilities here have left a deep impression on me, "said Jose Castellar, Vice President of the People's Power newspaper in Honduras. Honduras is a country highly dependent on international trade for its economy, and Brazil and China have achieved fruitful cooperation in this field. He hopes that Honduras can also cooperate with China in related fields.

The equipment and technology of Zhenhua Heavy Industry can help Rio de Janeiro Port improve its modernization level, "said Carlos Alberto, director of Brazil Southern Television. The advanced loading and unloading equipment is efficient and environmentally friendly, which is a reflection of the positive results of practical cooperation between Brazil and China.

According to on-site staff, the terminal is the first in Brazil to obtain carbon neutrality certification. The dock is equipped with 5 fully electric shore cranes and 4 fully electric tire cranes provided by Zhenhua Heavy Industry, with over 50% of the equipment powered by renewable energy. The impressive case of the dock achieving carbon neutrality with the assistance of Chinese enterprises is worth promoting, "said Felipe Araripe, an environmental journalist for Brazilian magazine Plurale.

Chinese enterprises have made positive contributions to improving the modern operation level of Brazilian ports and promoting green and low-carbon development. The media representatives from Latin American countries present all affirmed the assistance of Chinese enterprises in achieving equipment modernization upgrades and participating in local green development. They all expressed that such cooperation cases are worth learning from for Latin American countries.
