Wang Yi: China Nigeria relations have achieved three outstanding results

On January 9, 2025 local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Foreign Minister, met with Nigerian Foreign Minister Tugar after talks in Abuja.

Wang Yi introduced the visit to Nigeria and stated that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Tinubu, China Nepal relations have achieved three outstanding results: firstly, the positioning of the relationship has made a new leap, and the two heads of state jointly announced that China Nepal relations have been upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Secondly, a new platform has been established through unity and cooperation. The first plenary session of the China Nepal Intergovernmental Committee was successfully held, promoting the upgrading and coordination of China Nepal cooperation. Thirdly, international cooperation has reached new heights. Both sides closely coordinate in international and regional affairs, and work together to promote the collective rise and development revitalization of the "Global South".

Wang Yi said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations more than half a century ago, no matter how the international situation changes, China and Nepal have always deepened friendly and pragmatic cooperation in the spirit of mutual respect and equal treatment, becoming a successful example of South South cooperation and an important benchmark for China Africa cooperation. Both sides should adhere to the "strategic" nature of China Nepal relations under the guidance of the two heads of state, continue to firmly support each other on issues related to each other's core concerns, and always be good brothers who trust each other. Highlighting the 'exemplary' nature of China Nepal relations, continuing to 'dare to be the first', injecting momentum and confidence into the high-quality development of China Africa cooperation and modernization of Africa. Give full play to the complementarity of China Nepal relations, fully connect their respective advantages, and continuously tap into the potential for cooperation in new fields such as clean energy, green minerals, and finance. Expand the comprehensiveness of China Nepal relations and promote comprehensive and coordinated development of cooperation in various fields such as economy, trade, agriculture, humanities, national defense, science and technology, and aerospace. I believe that with the joint efforts of both sides, the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Nepal will usher in a more brilliant tomorrow.
