Wang Yi: China Russia relations are conducive to promoting world multipolarity

release time:2025/4/1

On April 1, 2025 local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, accepted an exclusive interview with the "Russia Today" international media group during his official visit to Russia.

When answering questions from reporters about China Russia relations, Wang Yi stated that China and Russia are each other's largest neighbors, both world powers and permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, and both bear special responsibilities for maintaining world peace and development.   It is beneficial for both sides to live in harmony and achieve mutual success, as well as to promote world multipolarity and democratization of international relations.

Wang Yi said that there are three major characteristics of the current China Russia relationship: firstly, it is a friendly relationship for generations and will never be an enemy. The relationship between China and Russia has matured on the basis of constantly summarizing historical experience and drawing lessons from the past. The leaders of the two countries made a historic decision to "end the past and open up the future" with a long-term political vision. The Treaty of Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between China and Russia, which establishes the principle of "eternal friendship and never becoming enemies", provides a solid legal foundation for strategic cooperation between the two sides at a higher level. Dear neighbors, please be kind and peaceful. Based on a correct strategic understanding of each other, the two countries have found a long-term path of coexistence that aligns with their common interests. Over the past 70 years, China Russia relations have accumulated solid mutual trust, profound heritage, rich connotations, and strong resilience.

The second is equal treatment and win-win cooperation. In the early 1990s, the two countries established the principle of cooperation based on equality, mutual benefit, and complementary advantages. After entering the 21st century, the principle of win-win cooperation has become the basic guideline for the two countries to carry out practical cooperation in various fields. Both sides follow the direction of progress of the times, take care of each other's reasonable concerns, continuously deepen all-round cooperation, and expand the cake of common interests. After decades of development and operation, the connotation and extension of China Russia relations have been greatly enriched and expanded. The cooperation of "being tall" and "being grounded" has been integrated, which has brought tangible benefits to the two peoples and also allowed the world to share the huge dividends of China Russia cooperation.

The third is non alignment, non confrontation, and non targeting of third parties. China and Russia, as major countries and neighbors with global influence, are not in line with the fundamental and long-term interests of the two countries and their people, regardless of alliance or confrontation. The China Russia relationship adheres to the principles of non alignment, non confrontation, and not targeting any third party. It does not pose a threat to any country in the world, nor is it subject to any interference or influence from any third party. It is not only a model of contemporary new major power relations, but also an important stabilizing force in the turbulent and changing world. The "Three Nos" principle is a pioneering move in the history of international relations and an inevitable choice for the development of bilateral relations.
