Xinhua News Agency reporter Miao Peiyuan Zhai Shurui
In an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency a few days ago, Honduran Foreign Minister Reina said that since the formal establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Honduras in March 2023, bilateral relations have continued to deepen, and remarkable achievements have been made in trade, people to people and cultural exchanges and other fields, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples.
Reina reiterated that Honduras adheres to the One China principle. He stated that in the past two years, the relationship between Hong Kong and China has steadily advanced and achieved fruitful results. Especially in terms of development cooperation, both sides have continuously expanded the breadth and depth of cooperation and achieved phased results.
Renner stated that the rapid development of Hong Kong China relations cannot be achieved without the strategic guidance and high attention of the two heads of state. The leaders of the two countries have always adhered to the concept of mutual respect, win-win cooperation, and jointly building the future, promoting bilateral relations to constantly reach new heights. It can be said that our relationship is deepening every year and every month, and the results are constantly emerging
Recently, China sponsored a batch of sportswear for Honduran teenagers. Reyna said that this act of kindness demonstrates the warmth of friendly cooperation between Hong Kong and China, as well as the positive willingness of both sides in cultural and sports exchanges. "Sports and culture are an important link connecting the hearts of the two peoples. Sports symbolize peace and friendship, and are of positive significance in promoting the healthy growth of young people and enhancing people to people exchanges."
When it comes to economic and trade cooperation, Reyna said that the economic and trade relations between Hong Kong and China are constantly improving and upgrading, and the two sides are negotiating a free trade agreement with broad prospects for future cooperation. He said, "Although the free trade agreement is still under negotiation, we have seen many results. Our white shrimp has entered the Chinese market with zero tariffs, and coffee, bananas, and melons have obtained market access
He revealed that Honduras is currently promoting the entry of specialty products such as lobster and sea cucumber into the Chinese market. These high value-added agricultural and fishery products are expected to drive local production and bring new opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises and farmers
Rena pointed out that Honduran coffee has also made significant progress in entering the Chinese market, recently signing a contract to export coffee beans to China, injecting new momentum into the country's coffee expansion into the international market.
Looking ahead to the future, Reyna stated that Hong Kong China relations are standing at a new historical starting point with enormous potential for cooperation. He said: "Honduras has many things to learn from China, such as its experience in infrastructure, agricultural modernization, science and technology education, etc. At the same time, we also hope to introduce Latin American culture, especially the Mayan civilization, to the Chinese people to deepen cultural exchanges and mutual understanding."
"This is a mutually beneficial and win-win relationship, which will help promote economic development, attract investment, improve people's livelihood and ultimately achieve the common well-being of the two peoples," he said. (End)
