In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, the relationship between China and Egypt has achieved a leapfrog development. Through the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" initiative, the two sides mapped out a beautiful blueprint with the construction of Egypt's "New Republic" and the "2030 Vision for Sustainable Development", and promoted practical cooperation in many fields, achieving fruitful results.

Liao Liqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Egypt, said that since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Egypt in 2014, the leaders of the two countries have met frequently on bilateral and multilateral occasions, conducted top-level design on China Egypt's efforts to jointly build the "the Belt and Road", and agreed to improve the level of bilateral relations towards the goal of building a community of common destiny in the new era.

"Frequent high-level exchanges between Egypt and China are of vital importance, laying a solid foundation for the continuous upgrading and development of bilateral relations, the most important of which is the firm support of the two countries for each other's vital interests." Magdi Amir, former Egyptian ambassador to China, said that in recent years, driven by the initiative of jointly building the "the Belt and Road", the bilateral trade volume has increased significantly, and China's investment in Egypt has increased significantly.



Walid Jabala, a member of the Egyptian Association of Political Economy, Statistics and Legislation, said that Egypt's economic development was boosted by the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" project with China, from the Central Business District of Egypt's new administrative capital to the China Egypt Teda Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (Teda Cooperation Zone).

On July 2nd, the groundbreaking ceremony of Deli Glass Egypt production base was held in the Teda Cooperation Zone. The total investment of this project is about 70 million US dollars. The first phase of the project will build a high standard glass kiln with a daily melting capacity of 250 tons and equipped with an automated production line. In the future, it will focus on producing high-quality daily glassware and use it as the core to create a modern industrial cluster integrating research and development, manufacturing, deep processing, packaging, logistics, and export.

Walid Jamaldin, Chairman of the General Directorate of the Suez Canal Economic Zone in Egypt, delivered a speech at the groundbreaking ceremony, stating that the implementation of this project is the latest achievement of deep cooperation between the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the world, especially with Chinese investors. It fully reflects the good development trend of cooperation between Egypt and China in the current context of comprehensive deepening of political mutual trust and economic and trade cooperation.

Cao Hui, Executive Director of the Teda Special Zone Development Company in Egypt, said that the Teda Cooperation Zone has now attracted 185 companies to settle in, with an investment of about 3 billion US dollars and cumulative sales exceeding 5.3 billion US dollars. The park has formed an industrial cluster dominated by new building materials, petroleum equipment, high and low voltage equipment, machinery manufacturing, textiles, chemicals, new energy, and white goods.

Recently, former Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sheraf visited the Haier Egypt Ecological Park located in the city of Ramadan 10th and the Jetour Egypt Welding Factory located in the city of October 6th. In an exclusive interview with reporters, he said that these projects are the results of Egypt's medium - and long-term cooperative partnership, and vividly reflect the concept of jointly building the "the Belt and Road" initiative to promote common development. Cooperation with China is of great significance to Egypt's modernization of its industrial base.

In recent years, Chinese companies in Egypt have created many "firsts" in Africa: constructing the tallest building, building and operating a world-class large-scale fiberglass production base, assisting in the construction of Egypt's largest vaccine storage center, undertaking and operating the largest and most technologically advanced cement production cluster in Africa, and helping Egypt become the first African country with complete satellite assembly and integration testing capabilities.

In the past 9 years, China has helped Egypt drill more than 680 desert water wells, gradually transforming the desert into fertile land. The Huawei Information and Communication Technology Talent Training Program has trained approximately 40000 young Egyptians, making important contributions to stabilizing the local economy and benefiting people's livelihoods.

In addition, people to people and cultural exchanges between the two countries have flourished, covering education, culture, archaeology, tourism, media and other fields, which has strongly promoted mutual learning between civilizations and people to people exchanges between the two countries, laying a solid foundation for China Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership.

In the field of education, the "Chinese culture fever" and "Chinese language fever" continue to heat up in Egypt. Chinese has officially entered the Egyptian national education system, with 30 universities offering Chinese departments or courses, and over 20 middle schools offering Chinese elective courses. Cultural exchanges have been exciting, with the two countries hosting a variety of cultural events such as "Happy Spring Festival," "Tea and the World," "China Film Week," "International Chinese Day," and "Dialogue · Friends - Music Connecting the World" concerts, which have received widespread attention and love from all sectors of Egypt.

The cooperation between the two countries in the field of archaeology is increasingly deepening. In the world-renowned Karnak Temple area, the Sino Egyptian joint archaeological team formed in 2018 has revitalized the Mengtu Temple site, which has been sealed for over 3000 years. In 2024, the joint archaeological team fully revealed the outline of the fourth temple in the site for the first time and unearthed multiple important cultural relics. In addition, the two countries have launched a digital survey and research project on newly unearthed cultural relics in Saigara, which involves digital scanning, photography, organization, and research of thousands of humanoid mummy coffins unearthed at the Saigara site, and assistance in the restoration of the statue of Ramses II in the Karnak Temple.

From museums to pyramids, from southern temples to Red Sea seaside resorts, a continuous stream of Chinese tourists come to Egypt. According to the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Agency, the Egyptian government has introduced multiple measures to facilitate Chinese tourists, including setting up Chinese signs at tourist attractions such as pyramids and temples, increasing the number of Chinese tour guides, and encouraging more hotels to provide Chinese catering services.

In June of this year, Air China announced that it would open a direct flight route from Beijing to Cairo starting from July 9th. Ahmed Youssef, Chairman of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Agency, believes that the opening of the new air route will inject strong impetus into the close personnel exchanges and deepening tourism cooperation between the two countries.
