People's Daily Bell: Singing for Peace, Writing a New Story of China US Friendship Together

From painting accompanied by song "co painting peace" to campus interactive experience; From street flash mob performances to writing warm messages to each other, Chinese and American teenagers sing the song of youth, peace, and friendship with their voices. From July 10th to 18th, 2025, the "Guling Yuan" China US Youth Choral Week will be held in Fuzhou and Beijing. Nearly 30 youth choirs from both countries, with over a thousand participants, conducted music dialogues and cultural exchanges under the theme of "Singing for Peace", jointly writing a new story of China US friendship through a youthful pact.

  Since the proposal of this initiative, it has effectively promoted the vigorous development of youth exchanges between the two countries. The hope of China US relations lies in the people, the foundation lies in the people, the future lies in the youth, and the vitality lies in the locality. President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to and personally promotes friendly exchanges between the Chinese and American people, especially youth exchanges.  

Teenagers are the future of the country and also the future of friendly causes. During the event, young people from China and the United States used music as a bridge to revisit the stories of Guling, allowing the seeds of peace and friendship to take root and sprout in their singing. From sharing a well a hundred years ago to reuniting across oceans today, the "Guling Connection" is now being passed on to the younger generation of Chinese and American youth. American youth representatives have experienced the hospitality of the Chinese people, the brilliance of Chinese culture and the vitality of Chinese society through a variety of interactive experiences and visits. Many participants expressed that this trip completely refreshed their understanding of China. This once again proves that although China and the United States have different histories, cultures, social systems, and development paths, goodwill and exchanges can overcome numerous obstacles and bloom into the flower of friendship through mutual understanding and matchmaking.


From history to the present, people to people exchanges, as an important component of China US relations, have always been the source of vitality for the development of bilateral relations. China has actively introduced measures to facilitate personnel exchanges and promote cultural exchanges, building more bridges and paving more roads for people to people exchanges between China and the United States. More and more American people are observing China with their eyes, measuring China with their footsteps, breaking through the information cocoon with their true experiences, and crossing the cognitive gap through hands-on practice, becoming "ambassadors of friendship" between China and the United States. In recent years, China US relations have encountered many difficulties and challenges, but the two-way march of the two peoples has never stopped. The more difficult the moment, the more it is necessary to tighten the bond of the people's hearts. China and the United States should eliminate interference, provide convenience for the people of the two countries to move around, come and go, and communicate more, lay a solid foundation for the stability of China US relations, and accumulate more rational and positive energy.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti Fascist War. Looking back at history, China and the United States fought against fascism side by side, fighting together for peace and justice. The "Flying Tigers" of the United States and the Chinese army ventured to open a hump route, and the Chinese military and civilians bravely rescued Lieutenant Colonel Doolittle and other pilots, forging the friendship between the two peoples in blood and fire. 80 years ago, China and the United States worked together to build a better world, jointly promoted the establishment of the United Nations, and opened a new page in human history. Nowadays, Chinese and American teenagers sing together across the ocean, resonating with each other's hearts and using their voices to convey their common pursuit of peace, unity, and friendship, injecting youthful energy into maintaining world peace and development. The differences in language and culture cannot hinder the resonance of the soul, and the differences in history and national conditions should not hinder the mutual achievement and benefit of the world between the two countries. China is willing to work with the United States to gather the strength of the two peoples and promote the two giant ships of China and the United States to move forward along the route of stable, healthy and sustainable development.
