Xinhua News Agency, Rome, October 8 (Xinhua) — On October 8, 2025, local time, Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister of China, attended the 12th Joint Meeting of the China-Italy Government Committee in Rome with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani. In his concluding remarks, Wang Yi highly praised the achievements of cooperation between China and Italy in various fields.

Wang Yi stated that since last year, China and Italy have actively implemented the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries. Taking the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations as an opportunity, they have steadily expanded practical cooperation across various fields, with many highlights. The China-Italy Coastal Innovation Cooperation Industrial Park has been preliminarily established, and the two sides jointly launched the electromagnetic monitoring satellite "Zhang Heng-1" 02. The China-Italy Agreement on the Elimination of Double Taxation has officially taken effect. They have mutually supported business promotion efforts, with over 70 Italian companies attending the 8th China International Import Expo. The two sides initiated the first batch of four classic works for mutual translation, and more than 10 outstanding Chinese and Italian films were screened in both countries. Shanghai and Shenzhen held the Twin City Design Forum and Twin City Fashion Week respectively in collaboration with Milan. China has already implemented a unilateral visa exemption policy for Italy and will further extend it, welcoming more Italian friends to embark on a "spontaneous China journey.".

Wang Yi stated that China and Italy are two major economies supporting free trade, two powerful forces upholding multilateralism, and two ancient civilizations advocating for cultural exchange and mutual learning. Against the backdrop of an increasingly complex international landscape, China and Italy should demonstrate a sense of responsibility, align with the trend of the times, maintain mutual trust, and achieve common goals. By upholding an open spirit, they should expand and enhance practical cooperation, delivering fruitful outcomes that contribute more to their respective economic development and the well-being of their peoples.
