China and France hold strategic dialogue

Hangzhou, October 15 (Xinhua) -- Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Central Committee, held the 27th China France Strategic Dialogue with French President's Foreign Affairs Advisor John Boehner in Hangzhou on the 15th.

Wang Yi stated that in the past year, China France relations have made new progress under the leadership of the two heads of state, with close exchanges at all levels, solid progress in pragmatic cooperation, and increasingly close multilateral cooperation. Both China and France are permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and independent major powers. Building a more strategic and forward-looking relationship between China and France is in line with the long-term interests of the two peoples and is also an international responsibility that both countries should fulfill.

Wang Yi stated that China is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with France, deepen strategic mutual trust, and promote all-round cooperation. The upcoming Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC will study the "15th Five Year Plan", believing that this will bring more opportunities to France's cooperation with China. Both sides should continue to deepen cooperation in traditional fields, actively explore cooperation in emerging fields, and vigorously tap into the potential of local cooperation. China is willing to strengthen multilateral coordination with France within the framework of the United Nations.

Bona stated that the French side adheres to the tradition of independent diplomacy and steadfastly pursues the One China policy. We look forward to strengthening practical cooperation with China in the fields of economy, trade, civil nuclear energy, science and technology, and new energy in the spirit of equality and mutual benefit. The French side opposes a trade war and opposes confrontation among opposing factions.

Wang Yi stated that the main tone of China Europe relations should be cooperation, and the correct positioning should be partnership. I hope the French side can promote the EU to adhere to true strategic autonomy and establish a correct understanding of China. Bona stated that France is willing to play a positive role in strengthening dialogue and cooperation between Europe and China.

Both sides also had in-depth exchanges of views on issues of common concern such as the Ukrainian crisis, the situation in the Middle East, and the reform and improvement of the global governance system.
