Looking forward to taking the 2026 World Cup as an opportunity to further deepen cooperation with China in the field of culture and tourism.

In 2026, Mexico will jointly host the World Cup with the United States and Canada, marking the third time Mexico has hosted the World Cup since 1970 and 1986. Among them, Mexico City, the capital of Mexico, will host multiple matches including the opening match of the World Cup.

Frosto stated that Chinese companies have provided strong support for hosting mega events in Mexico City in areas such as transportation infrastructure and electric mobility. We are introducing China's professional technology and management experience in the field of electric mobility, and jointly investing with Chinese enterprises to build tram, light rail, and train coordination systems to improve the urban transportation network and enhance operational efficiency

The "2025 World Tourism Alliance Xianghu Dialogue" was recently held in Hangzhou. Frausto said that she had in-depth exchanges with participants from all over the world at the forum and gained a lot from them. China has always upheld an attitude of respecting other civilizations, which I greatly admire

She stated that Mexico City is actively providing systematic training to local tourism professionals to better serve Chinese tourists. We will pay attention to seemingly small details that can make Chinese tourists feel at home, such as ensuring hot water supply in guest rooms and launching an official Chinese version of the travel guide

According to data from the Mexican Ministry of Tourism, in the first half of 2025, Chinese tourists brought economic benefits to Mexico exceeding 74 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 21.6%. From January to July this year, there were nearly 59000 Chinese tourists visiting Mexico, a year-on-year increase of 13%.

China is an important source of tourists for Mexico City.
