The world's longest! China Arab direct flights are about to open

release time:2025/11/28

Global Times special correspondent Tang Luyi: The world's longest one-way flight route will officially open from December. According to a report by Argentina's "National News" on the 26th, the Argentine government officially authorized China Eastern Airlines to operate the "Shanghai Pudong Auckland Buenos Aires" route within the country. The entire journey of this route takes about 25 hours and will become the world's first commercial route connecting antipodal cities. It will also set a new record for the world's longest one-way route.
According to the official announcement of the government, the airline has been designated by its domestic aviation regulatory authority based on bilateral agreements to provide regular and irregular transportation services within Argentina. It has completed the legal and administrative reporting required by current regulations and is qualified to provide relevant services.
The National News reported that the route will officially operate from December 4th, with two round-trip flights per week, and is expected to bring a "wave of Chinese tourists" to Argentina. As of now, the occupancy rate of the inaugural flight has been impressive: 97% for the Shanghai to Auckland segment, 98% for the Auckland to Buenos Aires segment, 47% for the Buenos Aires to Auckland segment, and 85% for the Auckland to Shanghai segment. According to the booking information of China Eastern Airlines on the 27th, the economy class fare for the above-mentioned flight is between 8490 yuan and 10240 yuan.
China is stepping up its efforts in Argentina to build a South South cooperation corridor. According to the National News, although the above-mentioned route requires a technical stopover in Auckland, it is still considered a "direct flight" because passengers do not need to change planes, keep their seats unchanged, and do not need to handle additional logistics procedures.
In addition, New Zealand will implement a visa free transit policy for Chinese travelers transiting through Auckland.
On the 26th, Spanish news agency Efe reported that in recent years, Chinese tourists have particularly favored tourist attractions such as the Iguazu Falls, Moreno Glacier, and Antarctic cruise ships in Argentina.
