Working Together to Build a Model of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind between China and Cambodia (Ambassador's Essay)

       

  Both sides issued a joint statement and signed 37 cooperation documents, elevating the positioning of China Cambodia relations to a new height of a 24/7 China Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era. This is the first time that China has elevated its bilateral relations with Southeast Asian countries to an all-weather level, and it is also the first new era all-weather community of shared future constructed at the bilateral level, which points out the direction for the development of China Cambodia relations and injects strong impetus.

For over six months, China and Cambodia have implemented the results of their visits with a spirit of time waits for no one. The traditional friendship between the two sides has been continued, fruitful economic and trade cooperation has been achieved, and cultural exchanges have become increasingly close, promoting the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Cambodia to continue to lead the world.

     

In the first nine months of this year, the trade volume between the two countries reached 14.2 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 27.5%. China's investment in Cambodia accounted for nearly 53% of Cambodia's total investment. The cooperation framework of the "Diamond Six Sides" between China and Cambodia has been continuously enriched, and the construction of the "Industrial Development Corridor" and the "Fish and Rice Corridor" has achieved significant results. More than 200 enterprises have settled in the Sihanouk Port Special Economic Zone, creating approximately 32000 job opportunities for the local area. Nearly 20 Cambodian agricultural products, including durian and bird's nest, have been exported to China. The number of China Cambodia sister cities has increased to 34 pairs, the youth dialogue and exchange mechanism has been officially established, and the first batch of intergovernmental joint research projects has been successfully launched. In the first nine months of this year, the number of Chinese tourists to Cambodia reached 890000, a year-on-year increase of about 47%; The number of Cambodian visitors to China is nearly 40000, a year-on-year increase of about 29%. The cultural exchanges between China and Cambodia are showing a gratifying momentum of two-way cooperation.

China Cambodia joint crackdown on telecommunications network fraud crimes is deepening. Since this year, Cambodia has captured and repatriated more than 2700 suspect of wire fraud to China, a record number.

The strong friendship between China and Cambodia has become a precious asset for the people of both countries and deserves to be cherished by both sides.
