release time:2025/12/30

Kunming, December 29th (Xinhua) -- On December 29th, the China Cambodia Thailand Foreign Ministers' Meeting was successfully held in Yuxi, Yunnan. Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia, PraSokhun, Thai Foreign Minister Sihasasa, and leaders of the military forces of the three countries attended.

Chinese leaders maintain friendly communication with Cambodian and Thai leaders, with multiple phone calls and contacts at the foreign ministerial level. Chinese envoys have made four shuttle visits, focusing on listening to the opinions of both sides, taking into account their respective reasonable concerns, and finding a path for dialogue and negotiation to resolve differences. With the joint efforts of all parties, the Cambodian and Thai military recently reached a ceasefire agreement, and China is pleased with this.

Wang Yi stated that the trilateral meeting is timely. We have held multiple bilateral talks here, especially with in-depth face-to-face exchanges between the diplomatic and military departments of Cambodia and Thailand. Both have shown a positive and open attitude, committed to easing tensions and improving bilateral relations on the basis of a ceasefire. The discussion among the three parties was beneficial and constructive, forming an important consensus: firstly, to look forward and move forward together. The ceasefire agreement is not easy to come by. We cannot stagnate, give up halfway, or reignite the flames of war. This is not what the people want, nor is it what China hopes for; The second is to gradually progress without stopping. The implementation of ceasefire arrangements requires communication and consultation, and the restoration of bilateral relations also needs to be gradually promoted. However, as long as both sides maintain confidence and engage in equal dialogue, the goal can definitely be achieved; The third is to rebuild mutual trust, which is the most important. Conflicts lead to a lack of trust, but Cambodia and Thailand are eternal neighbors with a long history of friendly exchanges. This gathering at Fuxian Lake aims to heal the wounds caused by conflicts, sweep away the barriers in each other's hearts, and truly achieve reconciliation. This is in line with the interests of the Cambodian and Thai people and is also the common expectation of all parties. China will always be a promoter of the development of Cambodia Thailand relations and is willing to provide all necessary assistance and support, including ceasefire supervision, humanitarian assistance, mine clearance cooperation, etc. We look forward to and believe that Cambodia Thailand relations will soon return to the right track.

The foreign ministers of Cambodia and Thailand thank China for providing this dialogue platform and highly appreciate China's constructive role in resolving conflicts, easing tensions, and promoting dialogue. Both sides emphasize the value of peace and are willing to actively implement the ceasefire agreement, make good use of dialogue mechanisms at all levels, jointly manage and resolve disputes, and jointly maintain peace in the border areas of the two countries.

After the trilateral meeting, a press release was issued, clarifying that Cambodia and Thailand will further strengthen communication, enhance understanding, gradually consolidate the ceasefire situation, restore mutual exchanges, rebuild political mutual trust, achieve a turnaround in relations, and maintain regional peace from five aspects.
