Ministry of Foreign Affairs: China is willing to be a promoter of the development of Cambodia Thailand relations and provide all necessary assistance and support

At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held on December 30th, some media asked that the Chinese, Cambodian, and Thai foreign ministers successfully held a trilateral meeting in Yunnan yesterday and issued a press release after the meeting. What is China's evaluation of this meeting? What measures will be taken next to promote the implementation of the consensus reached at the meeting?

Regarding this, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that we have already released information yesterday regarding the trilateral meeting between the Chinese, Cambodian, and Thai foreign ministers.

Lin Jian said that I would like to further clarify that after the signing of the ceasefire statement by Cambodia and Thailand on December 27th, the foreign ministers and military department heads of China, Cambodia and Thailand held a meeting at Fuxian Lake in Yuxi, Yunnan for the first time, and had beneficial and constructive discussions on consolidating the ceasefire situation and achieving a turnaround in relations between Cambodia and Thailand, forming important consensus. The press release of the trilateral meeting between China, Cambodia, and Thailand after the meeting clarified from five aspects that Cambodia and Thailand will further strengthen communication, enhance understanding, consolidate the ceasefire situation, gradually restore normal exchanges, rebuild political mutual trust, improve bilateral relations, and maintain regional peace and stability. Both Cambodia and Thailand appreciate China's strong support in promoting dialogue between the two countries and appreciate the positive role played by China in this regard. China supports ASEAN's mediation efforts. We will continue to play a constructive role in rebuilding mutual trust between Cambodia and Thailand through an Asian approach, and are willing to be a promoter of the development of Cambodia Thailand relations, providing all necessary assistance and support, including ceasefire supervision, humanitarian assistance, mine clearance cooperation, etc., to promote the early return of Cambodia Thailand relations to the right track.

Lin Jian stated that after the Shanghai meeting in July and the peaceful consensus reached in August this year, China, Cambodia, and Thailand have once again gathered at Fuxian Lake in Yuxi, Yunnan and reached a consensus, fully demonstrating China's responsible image as a major country in dealing with conflict issues that benefits but does not harm, acts but does not compete, and is strong but not domineering. China will continue to make due efforts in its own way to maintain regional peace and stability and promote the construction of a community with a shared future in the surrounding areas.
