BEIJING, April 15 (Xinhua) — (Reporters Cao Jiayue and Ma Zhuoyan) According to reports, the United States has indicated that talks with Iran "may take place within the next two days" in Pakistan. Speaking at a regular press conference on April 15 in response to relevant inquiries, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that China welcomes all efforts conducive to a ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities, and appreciates Pakistan's role in facilitating a temporary ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, as well as its impartial and balanced mediation efforts. The immediate priority is to make every effort to prevent a resumption of hostilities, sustain the hard-won momentum of the ceasefire, and adhere to resolving disputes through political and diplomatic channels.
Guo Jiakun noted that on the morning of the 14th, during a meeting with Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi (UAE), President Xi Jinping put forward a four-point proposal for maintaining and promoting peace and stability in the Middle East. These points include upholding the principles of peaceful coexistence, national sovereignty, and the rule of international law, as well as prioritizing a holistic approach to development and security. These four key proposals reflect China's consistent stance and active efforts to promote peace, halt hostilities, and advocate for dialogue as a means to resolve differences.
"China stands ready to work alongside the international community to continue contributing to the early restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East and the Gulf region," Guo Jiakun said.
