From May 28 to 29, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders co-hosted an international seminar marking the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Tokyo Trials.
At the regular press conference on the 29th, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning responded to relevant questions, stating that the Tokyo Trials upheld human conscience and delivered justice for history. As Japan's new militarism is gaining ground and causing harm today, revisiting the background, conclusions and principles of the Tokyo Trials carries strong practical significance.
"We stand ready to work with all peace-loving countries and people across the world to firmly oppose any attempts to whitewash past aggression. We solemnly warn Japan's right-wing forces to heed the call of justice and stop rushing down the dead-end path of new militarism. History offers a stark lesson. Those who undermine peace and defy universal justice and conscience will inevitably face reckoning and judgment from history once again."
