China emphasizes the unique and crucial role of women in a culture of peace.

The UN General Assembly held a high-level forum on the "Platform for Action on a Culture of Peace" on the 2nd to assess its implementation and discuss promoting women's leadership role in a culture of peace. Sun Lei, China's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, emphasized in his speech that women play a unique and crucial role in a culture of peace.

Sun Lei stated that women are an important force in promoting openness, inclusiveness, solidarity, and cooperation, playing a unique and crucial role in maintaining and building peace. Faced with a rapidly changing era and a turbulent world, it is essential to better leverage women's role, vigorously promote a culture of peace, and firmly safeguard world peace and tranquility. China put forward the following three points:

First, maintaining peace and security is the primary prerequisite. Without the guarantee of survival and the safety of life, nothing else matters. We must abide by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, uphold the peaceful settlement of disputes, and promote ceasefires and cessation of hostilities in conflict zones. We must resolutely oppose violence against women and girls and support women's equal, comprehensive, and effective participation in the peace process.

Second, promoting inclusive development is the fundamental guarantee. The exercise of women's leadership should be advanced within the framework of gender equality and women's empowerment. We must reaffirm our commitment to the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and promote the all-round development of women. We must fully leverage the principal role and transformative power of women, fundamentally enhancing their capacity to participate in and lead sustainable development.

Third, strengthening exchanges and mutual learning is an important task. Women are messengers of peace and friendship, and ambassadors for exchanges between different civilizations and cultures. We must advocate for people-centered development, eliminate discrimination and prejudice, enhance understanding and trust, and promote people-to-people connectivity. We must strengthen mutual learning among women, support the United Nations in playing a central role, and build broader cooperation platforms for women from all countries.

Sun Lei said that China has always been a builder of world peace and an advocate and contributor to the global women's cause. China is willing to work with all parties to continue to promote a culture of peace, gather "her power," and inject strong momentum into the cause of human peace and progress.
