In fact, promoting innovative development of trade has become an important focus of China's foreign trade development. In November 2019, the Guiding Opinions on Promoting High-quality Trade Development issued by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council put forward the idea of speeding up innovation-driven development, cultivating new advantages in trade competition, and clearly cultivating new business forms and new drivers of trade development.

Since the beginning of this year, China has further accelerated support for trade innovation and development. The Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance and other seven departments jointly issued a document recently, in Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Guangdong, Guangxi and Yunnan 17 markets to carry out the fifth batch of market procurement trade pilot. Previously, as an important platform for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship of China's foreign trade enterprises, the comprehensive pilot zone for cross-border e-commerce also achieved new breakthroughs this year. In the first half of this year, the State Council decided to set up 46 new comprehensive pilot zones for cross-border e-commerce. Adding the 59 already approved, there will be 105 comprehensive pilot zones for cross-border e-commerce in China, covering 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central government. In addition, the Ministry of Commerce also increased support for cross-border e-commerce enterprises to build overseas warehouses.

These measures have further enhanced the contribution of new forms and models to foreign trade. The latest foreign trade data shows that in the first three quarters of this year, the import and export through the cross-border e-commerce management platform of customs reached 187.39 billion yuan, up 52.8%, and the market purchase and export reached 509.86 billion yuan, up 35.5%. New forms and models of business have become an important force in the development of China's foreign trade.

In the opinion of Zhao Ping, vice President of the Institute of The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), under the pressure of the global epidemic, Chinese enterprises have speeded up innovation and development, continuously improved their adaptability to the domestic and international situations, and developed rapidly new business forms and models to become new growth points, driving the transformation and upgrading of foreign trade enterprises and enhancing their export competitiveness.
