The first direct cargo flight to Europe

On October 27, the first cargo flight of Belgian ASL Airlines carrying 99 tons of inbound cargo arrived at Qingdao Liuting International Airport under the supervision of Qingdao Customs office. The flight will then carry 108 tons of cargo abroad, with cross-border e-commerce cargo accounting for about 60 percent. This also marks Qingdao and Europe between the first direct cargo routes officially opened.

Before the opening of the freight route, a large number of goods from Qingdao were exported to the European market and needed to be transshipped to Jinan or Shanghai. The opening of Qingdao's first direct freight route to Europe will open a new fast channel for Qingdao's foreign trade import and export, and set up an "air corridor" connecting Qingdao with Europe directly, which will make it more convenient for enterprises to export to Europe.

Affected by the epidemic, some routes logistics blocked. In order to effectively stabilize foreign trade and foreign investment and ensure the smooth flow of air transportation, Qingdao Customs strengthened contact with foreign airlines, and helped the airline department to effectively prevent and control the epidemic and resume work and production.

In view of the new airline routes opened, Qingdao customs early intervention, and airlines, cargo charter business, airport group discussion many times communication, such as quarantine process specifications board, coordinating the entry and exit, freight logistics operation mode adjustment unit and so on related work, at the same time, strengthen the crew temperature monitoring, rapid flow, etc, under the premise that ensure the epidemic prevention and control, the quarantine clearance formalities quickly.

It is estimated that after the opening of the regular route between Qingdao and Liege, the customs clearance time will be saved for relevant enterprises by more than 10 hours, and the cost of freight will be saved by about 12 yuan per kilogram of export goods. Benefiting from the supply of goods for export brought by the opening of the route, the freight volume of Qingdao Airport will increase by about 30,000 tons every year.
