Meng wei, spokesperson of the national development and reform commission, said on Monday that in the face of the covid-19 epidemic, "One Belt And One Road" cooperation has shown great resilience. Up to now, China has signed 201 cooperation documents with 138 countries and 31 international organizations to jointly build the One Belt And One Road.

Since the beginning of this year, the covid-19 epidemic has spread around the world and uncertainties and destabilizing factors in the development of the world economy have increased, posing new challenges to the development of the One Belt And One Road.

Meng wei said at a press conference held by the national development and reform commission on the same day that he would push forward the "One Belt And One Road" cooperation to help stabilize the basic foreign trade and foreign investment. In the first three quarters of this year, the total import and export volume between China and countries along the Belt and Road reached US $963.42 billion, down 1% year-on-year but 0.8 percentage points higher than the overall national level. Non-financial direct investment to countries along the Belt and Road reached us $13.02 billion, up 29.7% year on year and 32.3 percentage points higher than the overall national growth rate.

The China-Europe freight train is growing against the trend. As of November 5, the number of china-Europe freight trains this year has reached 10,180, exceeding that of the whole year last year, with 927,000 standard containers transported, up 54% year-on-year, and 98.3% round-trip comprehensive heavy container rate. The transport network has continued to expand, reaching 92 cities and 21 countries in Europe. Since the beginning of this year, nearly 8 million pieces of medical supplies, totaling more than 60,000 tons, have been delivered. They have become the "passage of life" for China-EUROPE cooperation in fighting coVID-19 and provided important support for the stability of the international supply chain.

At the same time, new progress was made in a number of major projects. All the tunnels of the China-Laos railway have been completed, the contract for the first phase of the China-Thailand Railway has been agreed upon, the construction of the Jakarta-Bandar High-speed railway has reached the node target, and the EPC master contract for the Hungarian section of the Railway project has officially come into effect. The Orange Line project in Lahore, Pakistan, was opened to traffic.

New breakthroughs have also been made in the Silk Road to Health. Since the outbreak of the covid-19, China has, in keeping with the vision of a community with a Shared future for mankind, actively fulfilled its international obligations and played its role as the world's largest supplier of covid-19 supplies. China has provided materials and technical assistance to countries along the One Belt And One Road route to the best of its ability. China has provided more than 280 batches of emergency supplies to more than 150 countries and international organizations.

With the global spread of the epidemic, many sea and air cargo are being shifted to railways at a faster pace, and the growth of freight capacity between China and Europe cannot keep pace with the increase in demand, Meng said. To promote the sustainable, stable and safe operation of china-Europe freight trains, the National Development and Reform Commission is working with relevant departments and local governments to enhance the capacity of china-Europe freight trains.
