China's State Administration for Market Regulation has imposed administrative penalties on three companies, Alibaba Group Holding LTD, China Literature Group LTD and Fengchao Network LTD, for failing to report cases in accordance with the Anti-monopoly Law, arousing wide public concern.

The 500,000 yuan fine may not be high relative to the popularity and size of the three companies, but the signal from the fines is clear. That is, the Anti-monopoly Law applies to all entities, including domestic and foreign, state-owned and private enterprises. There are no fluke or exception for Internet enterprises.

In recent years, The Internet industry in China has been booming, and various innovative applications have been launched in an endless stream. While promoting market prosperity and economic vitality, it has also greatly enriched and facilitated the lives of ordinary people.

Behind the new industries, new forms of business and new business models, what is visible and invisible is the fierce competition in the market. It can be said that it is these competitions that create today's rapidly iterative Internet economy, and also directly or indirectly drive countless new demand and new supply.

Competition always has win or lose, the market decides the success or failure.

However, there is no escaping the fact that in this market, we have also seen the acceleration of resource concentration to head platform, and the potential concern brought by the increasing reports of platform monopoly and unfair competition.

Monopolies impede fairness, and monopolies stifle innovation.

For all participants in the competition, they must always bear in mind that fair competition is an important prerequisite for the sustainable and healthy development of the Internet industry. To encourage competition and maintain the fair market order, laws are indispensable.

In recent years, with the promotion of the amendment of the Anti-Monopoly Law, the Anti-Monopoly Guide on Platform Economy (Draft for Comments) has been formulated, and a number of anti-monopoly regulations and guidelines have been issued, making the anti-monopoly law system in the Internet field more perfect, more operable and predictable.

The Internet industry is not outside the law. The healthy development of the Internet requires compliance with laws and regulations. On the other hand, only when there are rules to follow and laws to follow can Internet enterprises go further in business innovation.
