At 6 a.m. local time on March 18, in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, it was the time of sunrise. Chen Xiaowen had just finished breakfast and was ready for a busy day's work. From home to office, he will take public transport to and from work like many local citizens.
Chen Xiaowen is the manager of Hisense network technology company. In the past three months from China to Addis Ababa, what he felt most when traveling was "waiting". Addis Ababa is one of the largest cities in Africa. Taking buses is the most important way to travel there. However, due to the large passenger flow, low coverage, long departure interval and inaccurate regulation, it is "common" to wait for half an hour at the bus station during peak hours. Local public transport is in urgent need of intelligent upgrading, which is why Chen Xiaowen came here all the way.
On December 29, 2021, when thousands of families were decorated to welcome the new year, Chen Xiaowen came to Addis Ababa after a 12 hour flight. Along with him, in addition to his carry on bags, he also has the intelligent transportation construction technology and experience from China Hisense.
On March 14, Hisense officially signed an intelligent public transport construction project with Addis Ababa municipal government. Chen Xiaowen is the project manager of the project. One belt, one road team, will be in Ethiopia for two years. It will help Addisababa build a new mode of modern intelligent bus management, improve the local public transport experience and create a new model of "international road" in the area of intelligent transportation.
Ethiopia is a country one of the "one belt, one road" and a pilot country for the first China Africa cooperation. China has made one belt, one road, and many other industries, from rail, car to mobile phone, and intelligent transportation. More and more Chinese manufacturing and technology are landing in Africa, bringing real benefits to local people.
Guan Jizhen, vice president of China Intelligent Transportation Association, said that Hisense's bid for the intelligent public transportation project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia is of great significance to China's intelligent transportation industry. On the one hand, this project is a project loaned by the world bank. It operates in accordance with international rules. Chinese enterprises can win the bid, which shows that Chinese enterprises have the ability to compete with international enterprises in the overseas intelligent transportation market; On the other hand, it shows that China's technical standards have begun to move systematically to the overseas market, which is an important beginning.
"This is the inevitable result of the development of Chinese enterprises' technical strength and executive ability." According to Wang Yonglei, chief business designer of Hisense international, the traffic conditions and scene complexity of mixed traffic of motor vehicles and non motor vehicles in China are rare in the world. These scenes "force" the competitiveness of Chinese enterprises in technology, products and services, and temper the unique ability of Chinese enterprises to design and implement appropriate systematic schemes in complex scenes.
Wang Yonglei is sincerely proud of this: "at present, with the development of big data and artificial intelligence technology, Chinese intelligent transportation enterprises have the ability to respond quickly, find problems driven by data and solve problems driven by AI. Compared with foreign enterprises, Chinese enterprises are at the leading level in many aspects."
"Despite repeated civil wars in Ethiopia in recent years, the infrastructure is constantly improving, especially in Addis Ababa. However, due to the lack of advanced management mode and intelligent technology, there is still a lot of room for improvement." Chen Xiaowen said to the reporter of the international business daily, "in Ethiopia, I feel the actual traffic conditions and think about the plan in my heart. I feel deeply that I have a great responsibility and am determined to make this project a model project."
Novel coronavirus pneumonia is the first single Hisense intelligent transportation system to go to sea. Hisense has no mature experience to learn from. Chen Xiaowen is faced with a blank sheet of paper and a hard nut to crack. The occurrence of the new crown pneumonia has increased the difficulty of promoting the project.
"The most difficult thing is not the language and geographical distance, but the demand difference caused by cultural differences." Chen Xiaowen said that due to the strong national and regional characteristics of intelligent transportation, the problems faced by different countries and even different cities are different. To solve the problems, we must go deep into the local area. In order to thoroughly find out the local traffic conditions, he led the team to explore buses, stations and stations in the streets for many times during the working interval, constantly communicated and negotiated with the domestic team to improve the project implementation plan, and finally completed the establishment procedures of the local branch on March 15.
Now, Chen Xiaowen's team has preliminarily worked out a set of smart bus implementation scheme suitable for Ethiopia's national conditions. At present, the project has entered the implementation stage. He wants to "fill in" the time with technology and make efforts in two years to span 20 years of development, so as to contribute to the development of local intelligent transportation industry.
