The reporter learned from the Ministry of Commerce on the 6th that the Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao held a video meeting with Australian Trade Minister Farrell on the same day. Wang Wentao said that China is willing to restart the economic and trade exchange mechanism with Australia; Expand cooperation space in emerging fields such as gas change and new energy, and promote high-quality development of bilateral economic and trade relations.
The two sides conducted professional, pragmatic and frank exchanges on the implementation of the important consensus of the two leaders' Bali meeting in Indonesia, the proper handling of each other's key economic and trade concerns, and the planning and development of the next stage of China-Australia economic and trade relations. Wang Wentao pointed out that China and Australia are important economic and trade partners of each other, the economic structures of both sides are highly complementary, and the bilateral economic and trade cooperation is mutually beneficial and win-win. At present, the economic and trade relations between the two countries are facing an important window period. Both sides should work together to inject more positive factors into economic and trade cooperation. This meeting is an important step for the two sides to jointly push China-Australia economic and trade relations back on track.
Wang Wentao said that the door of China's opening will only be wider and wider. A continuously developing and open China will bring more opportunities to all countries in the world, including Australia. In the next stage, the two sides should follow the direction indicated by the two leaders' meeting, strengthen communication and coordination in the economic and trade fields, and seek mutually beneficial and win-win solutions to their respective concerns.
