On March 30, a reporter from China Trade News learned from Cainiao that the company had signed a global logistics cooperation agreement with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Rome. The two sides will conduct three-year strategic cooperation in areas such as global humanitarian emergency operations and improving supply chain capabilities. This is also the first time that a Chinese logistics company has become a global logistics partner of the World Food Programme.

The reporter learned that Cainiao will take advantage of the global logistics network to help the World Food Programme shorten emergency response time in emergencies and improve the efficiency of its global supply chain. Support humanitarian and emergency assistance worldwide through 15 large sorting centers covering the world, logistics hubs in Europe and Southeast Asia, and logistics capabilities deployed in Brazil, North America, and the Middle East.
Cainiao CEO Wan Lin said that the strategic cooperation between the two sides means that Chinese logistics companies have begun to actively participate in global humanitarian assistance. In recent years, Cainiao has taken globalization as one of the core strategies for enterprise development. Currently, Cainiao service has covered more than 200 countries and regions around the world, and is accelerating the construction of local logistics capacity overseas.
Ramiro Lopes da Silva, Deputy Executive Director of the Supply Chain and Emergency Management Department of the World Food Programme, said: "We are pleased to be able to cooperate with Cainiao to strengthen capacity-building and expand humanitarian assistance through logistics services and supply chain management. Cainiao has rich professional experience and technical knowledge that can help us enhance supply chain resilience. This will have a positive impact on the environment and further support our assistance to vulnerable communities."
It is understood that the World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian aid agency, saving lives in emergencies, providing food assistance to people affected by conflicts, disasters, and climate change, and helping them build a path to peace, stability, and prosperity. Every day, the World Food Programme has 5600 trucks, 30 ships, and 100 aircraft to provide life-saving food and other assistance to those most in need.
In recent years, Cainiao has continuously invested its logistics capabilities in major emergency rescue efforts in China and the world. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, newcomers have delivered more than 300 million pieces of medical and living materials to more than 150 countries and regions around the world. During the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria, Cainiao also opened its own storage and transportation resources to help transfer humanitarian relief supplies.
