On August 18th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin presided over a regular press conference. A reporter asked that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Africa, and some South African scholars have called China South Africa relations entering a "golden age". What are China's expectations for the future development of bilateral relations at this important historical node? What are the expected results of this visit?
Wang Wenbin said that South Africa is China's comprehensive strategic partner and the first African country to join in the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" cooperation. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea 25 years ago, the bilateral relations have achieved leapfrog development, far exceeding the scope of bilateral relations and increasingly having global influence. As South African scholars have said, China South Africa relations have entered a "golden age" and the future is even more promising.
Wang Wenbin emphasized that no matter how the international situation changes, China's determination to deepen Sino South friendship and strengthen unity and cooperation will not change. We are willing to work with South Africa to continue to support each other on issues related to each other's core interests and major concerns, work together on the path of development and revitalization, and make positive contributions to promoting world multipolarity and democratization of international relations. I believe that with the joint efforts of both sides, the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and South Africa will surely achieve new and greater development.
