Guterres: Multi disciplinary cooperation between China and Africa will promote green development in African countries

The first African Climate Summit was held on September 4th local time in the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, and this session will last for three days. At the high-level summit dialogue held on the 5th, representatives from international organizations such as the United Nations Environment Programme and the Development Programme, 21 African heads of state and government, as well as representatives from Asian and South American countries attended and delivered speeches. The representative of China announced in his speech on the same day that in order to implement the Declaration on Cooperation between China and Africa in Addressing Climate Change, China will develop and implement the South South cooperation "African Light Belt" project to address climate change.
The representative of China stated that the project focuses on the cooperation needs of photovoltaic resources and clean energy development in Africa, utilizing the advantages of China's photovoltaic industry development, and adopting the approach of "material assistance, exchange and dialogue, joint research, and capacity building" to create a demonstration zone for cooperation in the utilization of photovoltaic resources between China and Africa, helping African countries solve electricity difficulties, and helping African countries achieve green and low-carbon development. At the same time, China also calls on developed countries to take the initiative to shoulder their historical responsibility and fulfill their commitment to provide at least $100 billion in climate funding to developing countries every year as soon as possible.
Chinese Minister of Ecology and Environment, Huang Runqiu: In the future, China is willing to continue to strengthen practical exchanges and cooperation with African countries, share China's policy actions and experiences in adapting to climate change, and make our positive contribution to improving the global ability to adapt to climate change.
After the meeting, UN Secretary General Guterres answered questions from reporters from China Central Radio and Television at a press conference. He stated that the environmental experience of each country is worth learning from in Africa, and cooperation between China and Africa in multiple fields will promote African countries to achieve green development.
