PHILADY, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng emphasized at the opening ceremony of the 56th World Trade Centers Association Global Business Forum in Philadelphia on April 20 that China-US economic, trade, and technological cooperation should return to common sense and rationality.

In his keynote speech, Xie Feng said that safeguarding national security is a matter of course, but it should not be generalized or abused. Some unfounded suspicions lack basic common sense and cannot withstand the test of facts; they will only damage the stability of global supply chains and innovation, harming both sides. Less unfounded suspicion and malicious smears, and more rationality based on market rules and business logic, are needed to truly unleash the enormous potential of bilateral cooperation.

Xie Feng stated that we must demonstrate greater courage and wisdom in handling the key issues currently concerning the healthy development of bilateral relations, including establishing a correct strategic understanding, being determined to be partners rather than adversaries, cultivating a mindset of fair competition, achieving mutual success rather than a zero-sum game, breaking free from the "chilling effect," and further consolidating the warm current of exchange and cooperation.
