China stresses that the two-state solution is the only viable way to resolve the Palestinian issue.

 Teng Fei, Counselor of the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations, spoke at the **Aria-formula meeting** of the UN Security Council on the situation in the West Bank on the 8th, stressing that the two-state solution is the only viable way out to resolve the Palestinian question. Teng Fei stated that the situation in the West Bank has been deteriorating at an accelerated pace recently, with violence and illegal activities growing rampantly. The Palestinian question has lingered for decades. The Security Council and the UN General Assembly have long adopted a series of resolutions, and the International Court of Justice has also issued an advisory opinion on the occupation issue. Nevertheless, the fundamental reason why the situation fails to improve lies in the lack of implementation of relevant decisions. The international community should take concrete actions to restore stability in the West Bank as soon as possible and advance an early comprehensive, just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian question. Teng Fei pointed out that illegal settlement activities must be halted. The occupying power is currently accelerating the introduction of settlement policies and expanding settlement activities, resulting in the demolition of a large number of Palestinian homes and the displacement of civilians. Settlement activities violate international law and **UN Security Council Resolution 2334**, entrench illegal occupation and erode the foundation of the two-state solution. Israel should heed the strong call of the international community, immediately stop settlement activities and end the illegal occupation. Teng Fei emphasized that the safety of Palestinian civilians must be protected. China condemns all violence against civilians, and calls on Israel to take tangible measures to immediately contain the violent situation in the West Bank and hold all attacks to serious account. Teng Fei said that under multiple restrictions and suppression, the Palestinian National Authority is facing an increasingly severe financial crisis, public services have been scaled back, and the lives of the people have become increasingly difficult. Israel should lift unreasonable restrictions on the West Bank's economy, return withheld tax revenues as soon as possible, and stop undermining the governance foundation of the Palestinian National Authority. The international community should scale up support for Palestine, help it strengthen governance capacity and achieve sustainable development. It is imperative for the international community to mobilize broader political support to advance Palestine's early independence and statehood as well as its full membership in the United Nations. The Gaza Strip and the West Bank are both integral parts of the State of Palestine. It is essential to achieve a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, ease the humanitarian crisis and promote post-conflict reconstruction. China stands ready to work with the international community to make unremitting efforts to end the sufferings of the Palestinian people, implement the two-state solution, and realize peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel.
