At the invitation of Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of the People's Republic of China, will pay a state visit to the DPRK from June 8 to 9.
Mao Ning, spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made relevant remarks at the regular press briefing on June 5. She noted that this marks President Xi's second state visit to the DPRK in seven years. During the visit, the top leaders of the two parties and countries will exchange views on bilateral ties and issues of common concern.
Thanks to the strategic guidance of General Secretaries Xi Jinping and Kim Jong-un in recent years, China-DPRK traditional friendly and cooperative relations have maintained sound and steady growth, delivering tangible benefits to the two countries and their peoples. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between China and the DPRK. Taking this visit as an important opportunity, both sides will advance China-DPRK relations to keep pace with the times and achieve new progress, improve the well-being of the two peoples, and make greater contributions to peace, stability, development and prosperity of the region and the wider world.
