On July 6, at the first meeting of the UN Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence Governance, Jia Guide, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, delivered a speech on the topic of "Bridging the AI Gap."
Jia Guide stated that artificial intelligence is profoundly reshaping the development landscape of countries and the global governance architecture. All parties should take inclusiveness and benefit as their starting point, the United Nations as the main channel, and capacity building as their focus to shape an inclusive, open, sustainable, fair, safe, and reliable digital future. Digital sovereignty means that countries have the right to independently choose artificial intelligence products and should not be coerced into taking sides.
Jia Guide emphasized that China is an advocate, promoter, and pioneer in artificial intelligence capacity building, and has proposed the "Global Artificial Intelligence Governance Initiative" to help countries share the benefits of intelligence. China will host the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and the High-Level Meeting on Global Governance of Artificial Intelligence, and looks forward to the active participation of all parties to bridge the AI gap.
