Self-Defense Force officials who trespassed on the Chinese Embassy in Japan expressed "regret."

According to Japanese media reports on the 5th, the Tokyo District Court held a public procedure for the reasons for detention on the same day that Murata Kodai, an active Japanese Self-Defense Force official, broke into the Chinese Embassy in Japan with a knife. Murata expressed regret for his behavior.

 Murata Kodai, 24 years old, is a third-class land lieutenant of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force and is affiliated with the Miyazaki Prefecture Ground Self-Defense Force Ebino Station. Japanese prosecutors had previously prosecuted him for invading buildings and threatening embassy staff.

According to Japanese media reports, Murata admitted the facts of the illegal intrusion and other cases in court that day. He said he had reflected on and regretted the incident and would not commit similar acts again, and said he would take responsibility for the incident.

After Murata was indicted, the defender applied for bail, but it was rejected by the court. During the public proceedings on the reasons for detention that day, Tokyo District Court Judge Junichi Yoshisuke said that taking into account factors such as the motive and course of the case, there is sufficient reason to suspect that Murata may have destroyed evidence or escaped.

On March 24 this year, Kodai Murata climbed over the wall with a knife and forced his way into the Chinese Embassy in Japan. He threatened to kill Chinese diplomats and was subsequently arrested by the police. The Chinese Embassy in Japan lodged solemn representations and expressed strong protest, demanding that Japan make a responsible explanation. However, the Japanese government only expressed "regret" from the Chief Cabinet Secretary and the Minister of Defense, but did not apologize or propose specific accountability measures.
