A reporter asked: At the Geneva Conference on Disarmament held on August 11, the United States and other countries made a joint statement accusing relevant countries of failing to follow the standard practice of prior notification in their recent missile launch into the Pacific, increasing the risk of miscalculation, undermining regional stability, and declaring that relevant countries should implement the "Hague Code of Conduct for the Prevention of Ballistic Missile Proliferation." It is widely believed that this joint statement was aimed at China's test launch of a submarine-launched ballistic missile in July. What is China's comment on this?


Guo Jiakun said that the so-called joint statement made by the United States and other countries at the Geneva Conference on Disarmament, using the "Hague Code of Conduct for the Prevention of Ballistic Missile Proliferation" as a pretext to insinuate China's missile test activities, was entirely politically motivated, fully exposing their hypocrisy and double standards.


"China urges relevant countries to stop abusing multilateral arms control mechanisms, replace unreasonable confrontation with sincere dialogue, and create the necessary conditions for strengthening dialogue and exchanges in the field of arms control," he said.
